Benedict XVI and Judaism after five years

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Relations between the Catholic Church and Judaism have not been easy during Benedict XVI’s first five years as Pope. But there have also been as many high points, most notably the Holy Father’s visit to Israel in May 2009 and his visit to Rome’s synagogue in January this year. Many among those involved in Catholic-Jewish dialogue think that the conflicts and polemics which have sometimes overshadowed relations are par for the course.

Gethsemane’s olive trees

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

There are eight olive trees on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. They are very old, maybe a thousand years old. An all-free website!

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

As you can see whilst going through our site, you will notice that some things have changed.  The main one is that we have regrouped our material in a different way, and that all the material, in Maltese and in English, can be downloaded FREE of charge and directly on the spot without the need to go to the eShop.  In fact, as soon as the whole changeover process is complete, we are going to shut down the eShop, because there will be no more need for it.  I hope that this will encourage more visitors to our site, and help us spread our franciscan and biblical message.  I really hope you enjoy it.

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT IN THE HOLY LAND

Am I getting it right? Did I say “Holy Lands” in the plural? Yes, that’s exactly what I intend to say. There is a Holy Land where I live. It is holy because God rendered it holy when He became man and dwelt among us. It is also holy because of the people that God chose for Himself and for the sake of whom God sanctified this land.
